Harsh.TV Features ***Paul Bailey*** - Musical Crossroads!

In the last few weeks I have heard both sides of the argument!
Building a fan base, charting high on Reverbnation and touring
is the best way to earn revenue and get major labels interested!
If a major label deal is what you want? Back in the day Major labels
built the artist up from nothing with advances, they don't do that
anymore! Back in the day Publishers ran the business they would
build a budding songwriters career. Shop the demo to the labels
advance the writers and life was good that don't happen no moreEmoji

The Independent artist has to build his or her own career
and finance everything. Great if you got a rich Uncle or fairy
godmother it is a much tougher task. The good news is if you
can master all the necessary duties you can come out ahead
you control the masters and publishing not any label!
You can pitch your music to Film/TV/Video games it is called sync
licensing!

Sync licensing as been around for yrs mainly major labels and Publishers
new about them and worked their masters without the artist seeing much
if any revenues! You can go many ways use a Publisher or Licensing companies/
to pitch your songs. General rule 50/50 split if you can cut out the middle man
and go direct even better for you! The argument is that this route is a shot in the dark
and touring is the only way to make real money!

My Opinion is that if your a writer/Producer the Sync deal is the best way to go!
If you are an artist/writer both ways can be beneficial especially if you own/control
the masters/publishing rights! It is tougher performing gigs if you don't have hits. Some artists hate touring and just love performing
it can get taxing on the body especially when you get older.
There is no right or wrong don't sell yourself short life is too short
get it all any and all ways you can!!

Artist Information

Biography

Born in Birmingham AL 1983. Had some family problems coming up. Moved to Columbus, GA in 1993 influenced by Da Brat, Goodie Mobb, Outkast, Mystical . Start recording around 1996 with a clique known as O.B.C. School wasn't so much on the agenda. Although I got my GED (in jail). Then came the misadventure of a adolescence in poverty. Drugs, alcohol, girls and can't exclude music. SO, really its just Job Corp. , jail, alcohol, rehab, Decatur, GA.
Really started paying more attention to my music when I landed in Decatur, GA with my uncle who was fresh out of prison in 2006. Me and a producer friend of mine from Columbus, GA had big plans until alcohol and our direction created a conflict of interest. Needless to say, he went his way I went mine. Now you have classic tracks from a genuine producer artist clash on line and I'm still on the grind.

Callum Stewart Asks “Where Is The Love?”
Callum Stewart from Magherafelt in Northern Ireland is a fifteen year who has always been mad about music.  And his passion for singing has led him to release his debut single ‘Where is the love’, a cover of The Black Eyed Peas massive No1 hit.  Callum’s twist on the original delivers a huge piece of pure feel good indie pop.
‘‘Where is the love” is such a great set of lyrics for our time’ says Callum.  ‘It doesn’t matter where you come from – Northern Ireland of North America – we all need the constant reminder to keep looking for the good stuff, the small everyday actions that transform the ugly to the beautiful.’
This young troubadour is committed to making music that he enjoys and is proud of.  If this release is anything to go by, Callum will soon be making his musical mark in a big way beyond the shores of Northern Ireland.

The Crazy World of Arthur Brown announces 45 Years of Fire Tour 2013

The Crazy World of Arthur Brown announces 45 Years of Fire Tour 2013

The Crazy World of Arthur Brown hits the road across the UK with a brand new live show to celebrate 45 years of the massive hit song ‘FIRE’

Arthur Brown first came to prominence in swinging London in 1967, after spending some time on the Paris underground scene Arthur was quickly signed to Track Records at the instruction of The Who’s Pete Townshend and released the single Devils Grip, regarded by some as the record that gave the birth of Heavy Metal.

Arthur is best thought of for his 1968 Number one single Fire that still gets regular airplay all over the world and has been covered by the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Die Krupps, The Prodigy and The Who.

Arthur's next band Kingdom Come performed as the main act at the first filmed Glastonbury Festival in 1971 and in 1973 Kingdome Come was the first band to release an album using a Drum Machine.

Artists such as Peter Gabriel, Alice Cooper and Bruce Dickenson site Arthur Brown as a major influence on them and in this Arthur's fifth decade in music the fire is far from out.

Arthur's most recent album Voices of Love had major critical acclaim and Arthur received the Classic Rock magazine showman of the year award.

A new album featuring special guests will be released later this year!

The Fuse head North and Announce the Release of the ‘Different Life’ EP

fuse logo black on white                                                              fuse6treatedweb
The Fuse head North
and Announce the Release of the ‘Different Life’ EP

The Fuse achieved success relatively quickly into their career, having been spotted by LA music industry legend Russ Regan (who discovered and signed Elton John) and promptly offered them a deal. The band jumped on a plane to LA to record their debut album and was even treated to a debauched night at the Oscars award ceremony.

Having ended 2012 on a high with a sell out headline show at London’s Cargo and the release of their last EP ‘Runners’, the Londoners are certainly hitting 2013 hard already with the announcement of the first of several UK tours this year and a follow up EP release ‘Different Life’.

Listen to the lead track ‘Different Life’ here:       https://soundcloud.com/thefusemusic/different-life
The ‘Different Life’ EP will be available to buy digitally from Monday 18th February.

Don’t miss out seeing The Fuse at one of their following February shows :
Wednesday 20th February                            The Viper Rooms                             Sheffield
Thursday      21st February                             The Fishpond                                     Matlock Bath
Friday           22nd February                             The Railway                                        Bolton
