Ancient Ascendant are a 4 piece death metal band from Reading/London who are pioneering a fusion of old school principles with modern dynamics and power. Employing the 3 headed Cerberus of melody, groove and extremity, this unstoppable beast is set to crush all opposition, leaving only a trail of musically satisfied corpses.
After releasing their debut EP “The Heathen Throne” at the end of 2008, Ancient Ascendant received critical acclaim from the UK press, and went on to tour the country with Fleshgod Apocalypse in 2009. During this time, the band were honing their style and developing their live show, culminating in 2010 by being handpicked by death metal legends Bolt Thrower to open their sell out London show, their first in 4 years.
Now in 2011 Ancient Ascendant are immensely proud to join forces with Siege of Amida Records to unleash their latest creation upon the world, entitled “The Grim Awakening”. Mixed and mastered at Hertz Studios (Vader, Decapitated) with artwork provided by Tony Koehl (Waking the Cadaver, Black Dahlia Murder), the 9 tracks of old school death metal with a progressive twist are guaranteed to enthral the minds of metal fans looking for a band to pick up where Carcass left off.
