Kate in the Kettle - Solo Support Tour (Kate Young) - Hand-Picked to Tour with Folk Artisans Moulettes

Kate in the Kettle - Solo Support Tour (Kate Young) - Hand-Picked to Tour with Folk Artisans
Moulettes

Kate Young combines her voice with her fiddle to make tapestries; music woven from different folk
traditions and a base in Scottish fiddle playing, with a strong environmental viewpoint that reflects a
creative fire within this captivating and inspiring artist.

Growing up near Edinburgh, her passion for her music has taken her to tour Europe and Australia as
part of world music group ‘Ethno in Transit’; to perform alongside Mercury Award-nominee Eliza
Carthy in the all-female fiddle-singers band 'Carthy, Hardy, Farrell and Young' (UK), who released the
album 'Laylam' in 2013 via Hemhem Records; She has composed for string quartets including Mr
McFall's Chamber and Northern Sinfonia Quartet, and is currently creating a soundtrack for Czech
film, 'Montenegro' (EasyFunFilms).

Her passion for projects does not stop there – with new material created under the name Kate in the
Kettle, Kate is heading out on a major UK tour in 2014. She was hand-picked by renowned Navigator
Records signed artist Moulettes for 13 dates, set to feature several big sold out shows.

Kate in the Kettle embraces old customs with new ideas, merging and setting boundaries between
each element. Looking at past and future traditions, and reflecting what it means to be an artist in
Scotland and beyond, this music is aiming to raise awareness for current environmental issue in a
cultural climate of worldwide musical interaction. With a new single ‘Gold and Green’ due for release
on Friday 9th May, Kate is set to take her Moulettes supports by storm.
