Aluna & George Reported by Harsh.TV's Fashion & Music Reviewer Neha Kubavat

AlunaGeorge - Sassy electro pop from London’s leftfield

“Anyone who has seen Aluna perform will agree that she’s a real star in the making. Add to that George’s futuristic productions and you’ve got one of this years most exciting new bands” - Riton

Until very recently all the music by London-based, R&B-infusion electronic pop due AlunaGeorge was conjured in producer George Reid’s bedroom. This for the singer Aluna Francis would mean singing in front of the bedroom door.
They’ve both had their fair share of serious before meeting. George was in a “indie math guitar rock band”. While Aluna was doing “leftfield electronic stuff” that was almost impossible to perform live.
Two months after George’s band disintegrated he remixed a song by Aluna’s band, they liked it, he was asked to work with the some more and he promptly swiped Aluna from under their noses. George was happy for her to do both bands, but Aluna’s old band gave her an ultimatum essentially.
Leftfield electronic music’s loss was more tuneful electronic music’s gain, with early singles “Analyser” and “We Are Chosen” both cherry-picking from underground dance culture and bolting on gigantic melodies.
At the forefront of the music they make is this idea of creating actual songs as opposed to something that might sound interesting just on a surface level. This is certainly true for their forthcoming EP, which is released in March.
Freely admitting that they started with no agenda or any sense of what they should be, there’s an exciting sense of experimentation and evolution with each song thats released.
