Bought myself a pair of Yamaha monitors

I'd always been doing my tracking and mixes on headphones. Not that I didn't enjoy it, in fact, I think it was better since only I could hear the beats and the melody going over and over and over and over again instead of disturbing my neighbors and family. But after wearing a pair of headphones for a few hours, I guess no matter how comfortable the headphones are, it does start to hurt your ears and you wouldn't want to keep wearing them.

So, I decided to look around for a pair of monitors. Given the budget I was on, my list was very quickly shortened.

At first, I'd thought maybe I should go for an entry level like the M-Audio AV40. Went down to a local store to have a listen, and after comparing them to the Rokit 5s, I have to say, I almost made up my mind there and then. And I liked the design. The Rokit 5s have a solid build, and the yellow on black was quite elegant and nice.

Didn't want to have an impulse buy. So went home, got back on the internet, and searched for all sorts of reviews. But That was when my attention shifted to the Yamaha HS50m. I read a few reviews comparing the Yamahas to the KRKs and the differences between them.

So off I went one evening, to a Yamaha showroom to listen to the HS50m. Very nice solid build, white on black, and clear flat response. The mids were clear, but it lacked a bit in the low frequencies, which I guess is to be expected of a pair of 5" monitors.

After going back and forth with myself over which to buy or even whether to buy them. I bought the Yamahas and I must say, I'm loving them now. Not just as a pair of monitors for my music, but also to listen to music in general.

Oh, I also got a pair of Auralex mopads for them to sit on. Love them! Definitely value for money!
