Michael Jackson fans are up in arms over slashed ticket prices for a tribute concert already marred by controversy.
Planned for October 8 in Cardiff, Wales, "Michael Forever" was organized by Global Live Events in an effort to pay tribute to the late singer of "Billie Jean," "Thriller" and countless other hits. The Facebook group "Fans Against Michael Jackson Forever Tribute" is protesting Ticketmaster U.K.'s "Buy One Get One Free" promotion, while the fansite mjstar.com is additionally outraged over ticket prices that have allegedly been slashed up to fifty percent.

The price slashings are likely in response to financial hardship stemming from a succession of controversy surrounding the event, including disapproving members of the Jackson family. In all, a collective of more than thirty Michael Jackson fan clubs are calling for the event to be cancelled due to the ongoing involuntary manslaughter trial of Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray. Additionally, the organizers' request for "charitable donations" from attendees on top of ticket prices sparked concern. When "Michael Forever" organizers withdrew a performance invitation to Kissover comments made by frontman Gene Simmons, onlookers were similarly exasperated.
Beyonce To Perform At Michael Jackson Tribute Concert Via Satellite: Report
The event is set to take place at Cardiff Millennium Stadium, a 75,000-seat venue. Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Cee-Lo Green, Smokey Robinson, Ne-Yo and others are set to perform. Though unable to attend the event, Beyonce will be making a special performance via satellite.
