Colour on Steroids….. By Neha kubavat

Colour on Steroids…..
To say the catwalks were awash with colour for S/S is an understatement. Its summer, meaning there is always more colour on the catwalk. This season however, it was a whole new way of showing colour that got everyone talking. Fluro, block, primary… this is colour on steroids, colour with attitude, and colour with a capital C. JIL SANDER, was the show for me that displayed this trend at its most modern inventive. From the first exist… OK, well the first exist was actually white. But from the second exist; I got a jolt of excitement, which only happens when I believe you’re witnessing something truly new. A simple white tee with a fluorescent-pink long, belled skirt. That was it! A modest, bold, brilliant statement that is going to translate into a new way of dressing…

First off, the silhouette symbolised a grown-up elegance, a genius mix of sporty and chic. This is blurring of the line between day and evening wear in its most modern sense. While pairing a T-shirt with a long skirt is well-trodden ground, this looked new and fresh. This is partly because, it hasn’t been done in a while and partly because, the cut of the garments lends itself more to the precise work of 1960s Balenciaga and haute couture. What this means is a move away from layered, military, casual look to something more structured and elegant. It’s ditching the skinny jeans/combats, for example, in favour of palazzo pants, or trading in your summer jacket for a sporty nylon cover-up.
Then there’s the colour, that fluro pink looks so modern and now and new. It also makes the idea of wearing long FUN and SEXY, as opposed to grown-up opulence. So this signifies relinquishing last summer’s khakis/ greys and leaping into brighter shades. The thing for me that really makes this outfit would be the simple white tee.

A ‘wardrobe classic’ which has been eclipsed in recent seasons by every other kind of tee. The Breton strips, the sludgy colours, the sloppy V. This T-shirt rocks, precisely because it is none of the above. You won’t see an off-duty celebrity wearing one any time soon and it looks sexy and chic. So this bit is simple: buy the best white tee you can find. I recommend dry-cleaning to keep it box fresh, and wearing everything with everything for an instant summer update.

For all of the reasons above, this outfit will change the way you dress this season.

  1. May be there is also effect of the steroids on the body because many people even though many stars are using them. As to get the fame very easily. They are using them.

  2. I totally understand where your coming from, and your absolutly right. Though i was looking at how the colours are pumped up of colour in other words how vibrate they are this season, a trend of colour blocking.
