Marcella Detroit announces “The Vehicle” Jump Start UK Tour 2013

Marcella Detroit’s musical career hit the ground running.  She joined Bob Seger’s band in the early 70s and went on to tour with Leon Russell before becoming a member of Eric Clapton’s band in the mid-70s.  In addition to touring and recording with Clapton, she wrote several songs with him, including the million-selling hit “Lay Down Sally.”

Marcella then left Clapton to pursue her solo career – although she did rejoin his band in 1984 to record and tour with him for another year which included taking the stage at Live Aid in 1985 – working with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Alice Cooper, Bette Midler, David Foster, and Robin Gibb to name a few.

Marcella is most famously known as one half of the UK band, Shakespear’s Sister. She co wrote and vocally featured on their hit single ‘Stay’ which stayed at number one for eight weeks and still holds the record for the longest running number one for a female band in the UK as well as Gold in the US selling over 500 thousand copies.

Marcella Detroit is now back in the UK for the first time since 2007 with a new album ‘The Vehicle’ and four exclusive UK shows.
