I hope that all is well. I am doing fine. I guess I'm a little excited and racing with time in the same breath.
As you may know, I'm in Hollywood, California, working on my newest project. One of them is a movie script that I've had since 2006. Its a Thriller/Drama with some Action. Its loosely based on my life as a musician, with a twist of fiction added to it. The line between the two contrasts is very thin. We do not have major studio backing as yet but, through these college students, we have access to equipment that we do not have to pay for. Looks like I have finally found a team of College students that share the vision. We already have a movie title, which will be revealed in the coming weeks.
My latest album will serve as the soundtrack to the movie. It's Independent, short and, we have scheduled to finish shooting by the month end of June. Editing will take longer and, you will receive first, exclusive updates on the project. The good news is that, the movie will be good enough to sell to TV, especially on the African market. You will receive a copy of the DVD and soundtrack before it all goes public.
My birthday is coming up on the 27th of May, 2012. I haven't made a Birthday Wish or Request in many, many years. I hereby request that you help make this project possible by making any donation that you feel will help us achieve the intended goal.
Our current budget stands at $0.00 (Zero) and any money that would be spent will come from our pockets, unless well wishers such as you can come forward.
10% of the donations from this movie fundraiser will go towards the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) of which I am already a monthly supporter.
We have sat down as a team and given it great thought. The students from the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles are excited about doing this project as it will help land them jobs on completion. They can use it as a Demo Reel to show Hollywood production houses what they are capable of.
We have been fortunate enough to receive a donation from my father in law, Mr. Glen Stephens amounting to $3000 for RENT of an apartment which is being used for Studio Space which we are currently using to record the Album/Soundtrack. We hope that others can follow suit and help offset some of the bills such as:
1. CAST - $100 p/actor X 18 Actors = $1800
2. TRANSPORT/FUEL - $500
3. MOVIE DISTRIBUTION US$1500 to $2500 (This is for a minimum 80 Minute Movie)
4. OFFICE EXPENSES - $500
5. LOW BUDGET MOVIE INSURANCE - $450
6. ADR (Additional Dialogue Recording) - $50 p/actor
7. Marketing - $500
8. LOCATIONS - Paid for by The Musicians Institute of Los Angeles
9. FILM EQUIPMENT - Paid for by The Musicians Institute of Los Angeles
10. EDITING SUITE - Paid for by The Musicians Institute of Los Angeles
11. CAMERA'S - Paid for by The Musicians Institute of Los Angeles
12. DIRECTOR - $350
13. MEALS FOR CAST AND CREW - $500

3. POST PRODUCTION
4. DISTRIBUTION AND MARKETING
We will begin shooting the movie from the beginning of June, 2012 to that month end.
