Q.Tell us about who you are & What you do?
James Keen – I am the singer, guitarist and principal songwriter in Magazine Gap
Q: Describe your Music in 5 words
Classic, Contemporary, Eclectic Pop-Rock
Q.When did your Love with Music start?
When I was about 8 years old - I knew I could sing and enjoyed acting, often performing in musicals (which combined both), then with a piano & guitar.
Q. What makes your Voice Stand Out from other Artists?
I’m often told that I sound like a male Tracy Chapman, but I’m also comfortable singing a range of different styles of music, which fits with our exploratory and rich musical nature.
Q. Who would you like to Collaborate with in the Industry?
We all love to learn new things, so open to working with people who can bring a different dimension to what we do.
Q. Do you Write Your Own Material?
Yes, entirely.
Q: What are your Current projects that you are working on?
We’ve just started work on a new EP, which we’ll be recording this summer in London and whilst on tour in the Far East (we like trying out different studios in different places to help with the variety of the sounds we are creating).
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Hopefully touring the world and reaching as much people as possible in person that we’ve done online.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration from?
In the belief that real musicianship and well-crafted, well-produced and performed songs will always break through.
Q: Who would you rather listen to UK or US Music?
There is as much exciting music coming out of the UK as the US; it’s not about location, it’s about great singers, songwriters, performers, musicians and producers.
Q:What Artist do you listen to?
Most often: John Mayer, Jason Mraz & Dave Matthews Band
Q:Who influences your music?
Great singer/songwriters from every decade including this one.
Q: Please describe your fashion style in 5 words?
Smart-casual, elegant but with a bit of flair!
