The Blog HotSpot Episode 5- Featuring Jose Rivadulla-Rey

The Blog HotSpot Episode 5

Featuring Jose Rivadulla-Rey
Farmboy Records Partner/Producer

Dreams aren’t often seen in reality; however we sometimes get that opportunity to touch a rainbow.
So, you want to make a video?
Right let’s get to work, there are a few things you’re going to need so let us presume you are on a budget, first things first you’re going to need a camera that has a video mode, on a budget I would recommend a flip as they come in HD and if you’re a ebay addict like me you can score one for around £50 (I have 3, why 3? For the angels and it saves time when I film by myself), now you’re going to need a tripod, that’s a easy pick up, next up software but luck for you either your mac or PC will have a standard movie maker for free on the system (imovie or windows movie maker) equally good for what we’re doing.
So now you have the basic equipment and someone to operate it to your specification.
Ok now we need to story board your video, (this isn’t rocket science) just visualise how and where you would shoot your video, keep your locations realistic, don’t plan a roof top shot if you cannot get access to the location. Be versatile as well as bring a few sets of clothes with you, we don’t want to see you in the same clothes throughout,
Do a video test of headshots, upper and full body shots, also the most important piece of equipment is a rubber band, yes i said a rubber band, i am going to give to a secret tip in panning while video making, the hand will never pan the camera smoothly so what you do is put one end of the elastic band around the tripod handle and the other end around your finder, the rubber band acts as a resister taking out any friction allowing the camera to pan smoothly without the bumps in between (panning is rotating the camera from left to right or up and down)
Experiment with angles and get as much footage as possible (extra footage are good for gap fillers and contribute to the story)
See there is a lot to do already, but this will be the difference between a half decent video than the one you was about to do.
Now after all the fun filming, the frustrating event of editing will now take place, please do not do this the same day, get some rest.
First things first, separate all your files into scenes and a separate file for extra footage for the fillers. Now all you have to do is put them together like a jigsaw but making sure that your mouth is in sync with the music, once you have finished hours of editing and you have laid the backing track over the video don’t forget to mute the film files before compressing, and were presuming of course everything went to plan with no problems we now upload your video to the world wide web.

Well done. Easy huh LOL, I need a break.

If you put your mind to it you’re going to be fine, plus you will get a great sense of satisfaction in doing it yourself
However if your minted check out

Actually check him out and study the videos and look for tips, I regularly get emails from Sam for feedback on his videos and I have not seen anything rubbish that he has ever done.

So there we have it for the video production.

Life is a journey of lessons and some of us lean from our mistakes, some of us teach and guide and those don’t listen fail, take advice with a pinch of salt and always investigate and research for yourself.

As always stay blessed, creative and productive and i expect to see good things
Sincerely Jose
