Q. Tell us about who you are & what you do?
I am Phreeda (as in Frieda) Sharp and I’m a London town rapper.
Q: Describe your Music in 5 words
It’s cocky, fearless, antagonistic, raw but still touching at times.
Q: What current projects are you are working on?
My EP. All my energy is on that right now. I’ve been thinking about the whole idea behind it for some time and I’m really excited to get it out next year. There’s still a lot to do but the production is pretty much done, I just need to get in the studio and lay the raps down. It’s still under wraps so you’ll have to wait and see what it’s all about but it’ll be fire!
I’m also going to put out a couple of new rap spills before the end of the year. There’s about 8 different rap spill videos on my YouTube channel now and I have some cool ideas for two more. The favourites will also go on the EP.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
I live in the moment. In 5 years’ time who knows where I’ll be but right now I’m just doing what I love to do.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration from?
Life inspires me, all the experiences. I just exaggerate and intensify the little things and make them bigger and more colourful. I actually write better when I feel like shit. When I’m heartbroken I go off on one. It sucks but at the same time it’s my silver lining.
Q: Who would you rather listen to UK or US Music?
I don’t mind. A good track is a good track, it doesn’t matter where the artist is from. Obviously it’s twice as sweet if it’s a UK artist because you feel proud to see one of your own doing it and making it happen.
Q:What Artist do you listen to?
I listen to all sorts. It depends on my mood. When I was growing up I listened to a lot of reggae and soul music. My mom loved that stuff and I do too. When I first started listening to hip-hop it was Tupac, The Roots, Jay Z, Fugees, Biggie, DMX, Lil Kim, Foxy… I was obsessed with DMX, he was just different at the time and provoking I guess. I was in love with Jay Z then and still am. Now I tend to mix it up. I’m looking through my playlist right now and I’ve got some Drake, Chase & Status, Frank Ocean, J.Cole, Labyrinth … and Phreeda, OF COURSE!
Q:Who influences your music?
Me. Whatever I feel and whatever I see. I’ve learnt that the more relevant and true a track is to my personal experience the better it comes out so I stick to that. There are times when a beat just does it for me and that’s usually what happens with my rap spills. I fall in love with a beat and the rap literally just pours out, I don’t even know what the fuck I’m going on about until I hear it back.
Q: Please describe your fashion style in 5 words?
Sharp. Sexy. Hard. Feminine but still strong. None of that girlie fluffy shit.
