This Weeks Harsh.TV Weekly Hotspot Feature is Paul Bailey

Day in the life of an independent artist part two!

Today I want to discuss the struggles one has to over come as an Independent artist.
First of being an artist is seen as a tough choice as a profession not a real job as some
will say! Because its about getting our break it could take a long time or not at all!
But it is the passion that drives us artists it is an art form not strictly about money that drives us
the expression of ones self is the prime motivator. Artistic expression the ability
to express ones self, to say what is on your mind to keep it real!Being an artist is a tough long road
but what journey in life is an easy one! I heard on many occasions it is not a real job
yet those same people keep one eye on you just encase you get a break and say don't
forget me when you get your break! They have no idea of the struggle or journey nor
will they even offer a helping hand just don't forget me. I find that offensive they choose their
journey us artists choose ours if they were willing to support maybe they wouldn't be forgotten!

As an artist you have to live by your wits even busking and food stamps if necessary to support yourself!
Being self employed means by any means necessary to achieve one's
objective!Record companies or publishing companies aren't offering
advances anymore. Artists have to finance them selves these days build
a fan base create a buzz, generally wear all hats to keep moving forward!
The old model was better take an artist with commercial potential
and carefully develop the artist putting enough money into the artist basically
paying for everything! How crazy is that! I have heard many artist complain
that their day jobs take away all their time and no time to pursue or create
that is why they drop out of the game.TV shows like the X factor as got it right
the best artist gets a 5 million dollar contract that is the best deal I have seen
yet from these reality shows!

Hopefully the trend will change and more development deals are offered!
and for those who say don't forget me when you blow try to be more considerate
and understanding if we all work together we can help one another!
