BECOMING
Westfield Stratford City is part of the UK’s most ambitious regeneration project right now. But it is just the latest chapter of a much bigger story..
Home to London’s creative community, grass roots entrepreneurs, and families and individuals from every social and ethnic background, East London is where you go to reinvent yourself and your world. Ambition and activity, combined with diversity, makes for a powerful cultural cocktail. This is an area that doesn’t simply evolve: it ‘becomes’.
It’s becoming the place to live.
On-site, up to 2,800 new homes are set for completion before the Games, with a further 1,500 post-2012. Nearby, five new neighbourhoods are planned – inspired by London’s Georgian and Victorian heritage, injected with a contemporary twist.
It’s becoming cleaner and greener.
An extraordinary clean-up operation is transforming a former landfill site into the largest park created in Europe for 150 years. Sustainable design, plus a network of canals (now clean), new bridges, cycle routes and walkways, will serve both nature and human progress.
It’s becoming the place to have your office.
Four state-of-the-art modern workspaces are built into the fabric of Westfield Stratford City, with an additional campus-style business district to the north-west of the park. You can even eat your lunch beside the canal. Or go shopping of course.
It’s becoming one of London’s best connected districts.
Massive investment has turned Stratford City into a major transport hub: a gateway to the capital. And, post-2012, pedestrian and cycle routes will criss-cross the Park, stitching together previously disconnected and often isolated places.
It’s becoming the place to shop, eat and play.
Mixing and matching the mainstream and the maverick across 300 outlets, Westfield Stratford City will be Europe’s largest urban shopping complex – a playground for brands and fans alike.
Only a shopping district as eclectic and abundant as Westfield Stratford City can serve an area as diverse and exciting as London and the South East.
That’s why we’ve put so much effort into making it accessible – physically, thanks to some of London’s best transport links; and culturally, thanks to the mix of things you can do here.
The story of Westfield Stratford City is only just beginning. The area around us will continue to reinvent itself. These are exciting times for London, for Westfield Stratford City, and everyone connected.
