After previewing fifth album "Mylo Xyloto" with the sweeping first single "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall," Coldplay released "Paradise," the full-length's second single, on Monday (Sept. 12). While "Paradise" is another elegant anthem in the vein of "Clocks" and "Speed of Sound," the group has thrown fans a curveball by confirming that Rihanna will be featured on a track, "Princess of China," from their new disc, out Oct. 24.
"Paradise," which was shipped to radio today, finds Coldplay conjuring emotion out of a string orchestra as frontman Chris Martin sings about a young woman's dashed hopes. "When she was just a girl, she expected the world/But it flew away from her reach, and bullets catch in her teeth," Martin sings over a muted piano arrangement before belting out the title in the chorus.

Although Martin has been featured on tracks like Jay-Z's "Beach Chair" and Kanye West's "Homecoming," Rihanna's guest appearance on "Princess of China" marks the first time the group has tapped a star vocalist to appear on an official full-length. Coldplay has also revealed the 14-song track list of "Mylo Xyloto," the follow-up to their 2008 disc "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" which was produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson and features additional composition by Brian Eno.
"The hope is for the record to be free from any musical kind of box," Martin tells Billboard in last month's cover story. "It very much comes from the Brian Eno professorship of, 'Go anywhere. As long as it's you guys, you can go anywhere.'"
