No Country for Old Menswear
Need a power outfit? Don sophisticated and tailored menswear pieces like blazers, button-down shirts, ties, vests and structured pants. Simple lines with a mix of neutral and colorful garments will create an ultra chic look, or you can go with a basic black ensemble like Leighton Meester's red carpet look.

Cross Your T's, Dot Your Dresses
There are many ways to wear polka dots -- all of which are very in this season. Whether you pair a dotty dress and blazer like Christine Taylor, or add a spot of dot with your accessories or shoes, dots look cute, feminine and trendy at the same time.

The Great Lace Race
When in doubt, always run to lace for a chic and beautiful update to your look. Lace dresses like Miranda Kerr's red hot number are beautiful additions to one's wardrobe. Find bold-hued frocks that you can mix with the earth tones of fall for a fresh take, all your own. If a dress is too much, look for blouses, tank tops, vests and skirts to match with more basic items from your closet. Remember, this uber fem fabric is not just for spring and summer, but you should avoid wearing too many sheer fabrics, which are more suited for warmer months.

Going Up? Elevated Shoe Style
Sky-high shoes that are easy to walk in are not a fashion myth. Though platform booties, wedges and heels look a bit intimidating, well-proportioned pairs are easier to walk in than traditional heels. This fall you can mix things up with open-toed booties or a classic boot that adds height and style with a platform edge. Platform shoes look great with pants or skirts (as long as the hemline isn't too short). If the heel is over four inches make sure you have at least an inch at the toe to keep your balance.

A Mixed Graphic Rag
Take a note from style maven, Rachel Bilson, who regularly graces fashion blogs and InStyle's "Look of the Day," start mixing graphic prints with blouses and your shoes. Later you can graduate to full on print combo ensembles, but start off with floral prints and another print within the same color family. Notice how Bilson's top has flecks of brown that complement her animal print pumps. Make your look pop with a luxe looking solid to keep your outfit from being too busy.

Animal House
It's a jungle out there -- leopard, cheetah, zebra, giraffe and snake skin -- might as well dress the part! Explore your inner fashion adventurer with animal prints in all shapes, sizes and clothing types. Ashlee Simpson boldly wears a small, cheetah print shirt dress which she accessorizes with chunky jewelry, bangles and a bold lip. This safari-inspired look is easy to create yourself and ideal for your walk on the wild side.

Mod About You
Block out space in your wardrobe for 60s style shift dresses, tunics and minis! Michelle Williams looks gorgeous in this pale stone dress with retro pockets and black cap sleeves. Get your own mod look with block-colored outfits in sleek, modern shapes with an air of Jackie O (think high necklines and short hemlines).

Lash Out
For fall it's time to bat those extra long lashes. Pile on an extra coat of mascara and go to your favorite beauty supply store for some amazing false lashes. You can choose fake lashes by color, lash length and density. Keep eye shadow to a minimum and always apply eyeliner to make this makeup trend out of sight.

Metallic Bonds
Anne Hathaway knows how to sparkle on and off the red carpet. For this evening look she embellishes her little black dress with flecks of gold beading on her bodice, a sparkling clutch and golden glittered heels. Be sure to accent your outfit with metallics instead of going with a shiny head-to-toe look. If you do wear a metallic blouse, dress or skirt, save it for evening events.
