Short Paragraph about yourself, who you are, your latest project

My name is Natasha Powell, i'm 22 years of age, and a recent graduate of Birmingham Institute of Art and Design. At BIAD I studied Textiles Design, specializing in Surface Design.
Currently within my practice I am creating bespoke pieces of art surrounding a theme of 'Broken Memories', which is about memory loss, decay and a loss of data.
I use a variety of mediums within my work, such as resin, acrylic, pvc, rust and love to experiment combining new techniques to create unusual pieces of textiles art.
What made you want to be a Surface Designer?
I've always been interested in Art, drawing and creating crafty things in my spare time. After studying Textiles as part of my course at college I knew it was the area of design i wanted to pursue. I really enjoyed printed textiles, but my work started to come away from flat fabric outcomes into more interesting 3D surface qualities.
Who inspired you?
I'm inspired by all areas of art and design, especially the fine arts and sciences. Everything in everyday life is inspiration so I take my camera everywhere with me, just incase. :)
Where do you want to be in 5 years?
Hmmm, In 5 years i'd like to be exhibiting my work in galleries throughout the country and have my own studio. But as long as i'm designing i'll be happy.
What are your favourite places to hang out?
I really enjoy going to craft shows, vintage fairs, flee markets to see what wonders I can find. I also enjoy visiting exhibition and galleries, (i think the Saatchi Gallery is my favorite).
