Fashion took a turn for the uber sexy at the autumn/winter 2011-12 shows. Beginning New York, on Marc Jacobs’s catwalk, models slinked down runways for designers including Louis Vuitton and Giles in racy looks that were saucy enough to make us blush.
Inspired by The Night Porter, this look is not for the faint-hearted wearer (or spectator) – with latex, PVC and leather playing a starring role in the trend. Save the bondage bindings and lace-up corsetry for your naughtier costume parties and embrace the subtler side of this trend with suggestive sheer inserts, leather panels and black lace.
And, if you’re going to vamp it up in leather, rubber or PVC, make sure it’s oil-slick shiny and only even in black. Seduce in suggestive sheer panels and peek-a-boo necklines and lots of black lace but leave the corsetry and bondage paraphernalia at home. Sheer black or lace stockings lend an extra appeal to the look – wear with high-shine patent leather stilettos.
