I've Got Something You Should Try!

As you’ve noticed from my previous blog, I’ve started a new phase of saving as much money as possible; partly because I was turning into a (less extreme) version of Rebecca Bloomwood from Confessions of a Shopaholic. So, between now and my last post, I’ve been conducting some useful research on ‘home remedies’ which, apparently, are just as effective as expensive products you purchase from the stores.

I’ve tried a couple but one which seemed to have a shockingly amazing effect was a facial mask made out of 2 tablespoons of honey mixed with 1 tablespoon of lemon. Mix the two ingredients together to make a paste and apply a thin layer to your face and neck. Don’t worry if it feels really sticky and dry, that’s just the mask taking effect. Some people suggest for it to be left on overnight but I found the thought rather annoying – imagine your hair sticking to the honey on your face, not very nice at all. After about 15 – 20 minutes, remove the mask with lukewarm water. Repeat the routine every other night (I don’t really recommend every night) and it’ll eventually leave your skin smooth like a baby’s bottom!

Something important I must voice - applying lemon to the face has always been a controversial topic because of its most commonly known ‘bleaching’ effect, or what some people like to call ‘skin whitening’. I’d like to mention here that there is NO way possible on this earth that lemon will ‘whiten’ your natural skin colour and nor do I believe in the idea of people wanting to ‘whiten’ themselves – beautiful people come in all colours, shapes and sizes. It makes me quite sick how people are increasingly desperate to make themselves fairer. Anyhow, what it does do (to an extent), is remove a tan that’s perhaps been pestering for a while, even then I’m not entirely convinced on how much of the tan will be removed but since I haven’t been applying it for long yet, I’m not too sure. Hmmm, I’ll let you know next week...
