One year after scrapping a dozen dates on their 2010 reunion tour, Stone Temple Pilots have postponed the final four dates of their summer 2011 tour due to singer Scott Weiland needing "immediate vocal rest."

On their official Facebook page, the band explains that Weiland recently consulted with doctors and discovered that his vocal chords likely have scarring and inflammation. "With such a heavy concert schedule and vocal activity we determined that Mr. Weiland could potentially run the risk of a vocal hemmorage or suffer permanent damage hence putting him on complete vocal rest," says Dr. Sid Khosla, Director of the UC Health Voice Center in Cincinnati, in the post.

The canceled dates include stops in Cincinnati, Louisville and Council Bluffs, Iowa. A concert scheduled for Concho, Ok. has already been rescheduled for Nov. 5.

Last September, STP postponed 12 dates on their comeback trek after Weiland delivered a rambling speech onstage at a Houston, Texas show. "Stone Temple Pilots," the band's first album in nine years, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in June 2010.
