Design Festival 2011 details.... check it out

15 September 2011 Join us on Two days to go until the official start of the ninth London Design Festival... ... and with some venues already open there's already a lot to see. Final touches are being made to our Landmark Project installations which are already making big waves in the media. Recommend Tweet London Design Festival events Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec: Textile Field V&A / 17 - 25 September Offered the chance to create a design intervention almost anywhere in the V&A, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec chose the Raphael Court, built specifically to house seven enormous works by Italian painter Raphael. Working with the Danish textile design company Kvadrat, they have created a design intervention that radically alters visitors' ability to interact with the massive formal space and its artworks. As Erwan Bouroullec says, "The Raphael Cartoons are really important pieces, but in a way they are kind of difficult to look at because they’re from such a different time". It's going to be fascinating to see how the public use this re-invented space when it's open. You can sneak in early from tomorrow to get a look a look.More © Studio Bouroullec & V&A Images, Victoria and Albert Museum Breakfast Talks with Surface magazine V&A / 19, 12, 23 September Paul Priestman, Kiki van Eijk and Joost van Bleiswijk and Marcel Wanders are all taking part in our Breakfast Talks at the V&A. Make the most of your Festival day by starting early with some coffee, a pastry and some stimulating discussion from some of the most innovative design minds around. More More events Sebastian Bergne: Lego Greenhouse Covent Garden / 15 - 25 September Bergne describes it as "a childhood dream" – to build something massive with Lego bricks. An intense build over the last 24 hours overseen by Duncan Titmarsh, the UK's only LEGO Certified Professional, has fulfilled that dream and the Greenhouse, which draws inspiration from Covent Garden's history, is open from today. More Making Believe 2011 Mile End Art Pavilion / 16 - 24 September Exhibition showcasing the work of Goldsmiths postgrad design students, including workshops at the weekend and PechaKucha presentations by the students on Thursday 22 September. More Aesop hosts Studio Jo Meesters Aesop Notting Hill & Aesop Shoreditch / 15 - 29 September Aesop is showing the work of Eindhoven-based craft-orientated designer Jo Meesters in both their East and West London stores. More Aurelia Eichhornia lamps by Jo Meesters Inside Playful Minds Arts Gallery / 14 September - 29 October Intriguing interactive installation from Physical Pixels design studio that promises to "tell the story of design, from initial pixel to realisation". More Kate Maestri: Drawing Near The Light Contemporary Applied Arts / 9 September - 8 October Glass artist Kate Maestri responds to Kelmscott Manor, the home of William Morris for 25 years. More British bike brand Charge's Conran bike Tramshed 2011 The Tramshed / 22 - 25 September Returning after a great first year, Tramshed features new products from De La Espada's seven design brands, Autoban, Benjamin Hubert, Charlene Mullen, Lief.designpark, Matthew Hilton, Soren Rose Studio and Studioilse, plus seminars and even games...
