Free one-day masterclass is for MCs, rappers, performance poets & spoken word artists who want to work with young people.
Renowned performance poetry slam facilitator and poet coach Jacob Sam-La Rose will be leading a FREE training session for artists who
are interested in developing young people’s creative writing and performance skills. This Masterclass will also look at working with the youth slam model – where individuals & crews ‘battle’ whilst they perform.
Who is it for?
Artists who have some experience of spoken word performance & are interested in working with young people, specifically with the youth slam model.
It will also appeal to more experienced artists who would like a refresher or for those who are looking for a way into this niche area of work.
What else is happening?
You’ll also get the chance to find out how you could get involved in ‘Shake The Dust’, a paid professional development opportunity for up to 10 locally based artists, over the coming months to work with groups of young people from Norwich / Norfolk towards a regional SLAM event at The Garage next year.
This is part of a national project funded by Arts Council England and being run by Apples & Snakes in partnership with The Garage & Writers Centre Norwich. One group will then be selected to perform as part of the national event at the South Bank, as part of the build up to the Olympics.
