Make the most of your British Music Experience

Hi

As our fans know, the British Music Experience has the best collection of British artefacts, memorabilia, music and video footage from 1945 to present for you to enjoy during a visit. But over the next two months we are offering you even more music history to sink your teeth into.

We have created a programme of special exhibitions which span the world of popular music and the first UK viewing of a very special collection from one of the worlds greatest rock bands and another UK first, the UK premier collection of the Hard rock Café’s 40th anniversary icon collection.

New Exhibition

Iron Maiden:
On Board Flight 666
5th August - 31st August 2011

Iron Maiden’s official Photographer John McMurtrie travelled with the band on board their Boeing 757 jet named Ed Force One from January 2008, capturing on camera not only the five continents visited on the Somewhere Back In Time World Tour but also the Round The World In 66 Days leg of The Final Frontier World Tour earlier this year. This extensive coverage will be made available later this year as a photographic book, entitled ’ON BOARD FLIGHT 666’, featuring hundreds of stunning photos with explanatory text, giving an exclusive, behind-the-scenes pictorial documentation of both tours.

The British Music Experience will be offering, for a limited period only, the opportunity to view a specially selected sample of Prints from the book in an intimate setting within the BME.

Jazz, Blues and Beyond:
The Birth of the British Festival

16th July - 25th September 2011

You still have the chance to view an unseen photographic archive featuring images of legendary artists including the Who, Rolling Stones, Cream and the Yardbirds at the National Jazz and Blues Festival go on display for first time.

Music festivals are today a permanent fixture on the summer calendar for millions of people throughout Britain. The roots of this tradition can be traced back to the National Jazz Festival which we see the beginning of the modern festival. What started as small Jazz orientated event in leafy Richmond, would over time evolve and eventually turn into the huge hard rock festival known today simply as Reading.

The exhibition looks at the pivotal years of this festival between 1961 and 1966 through the lens of amateur photographer and festival insider Teddy Holroyd.
