Q.Tell us about who you are & What you do?

I'm Chevonne Jones, singing teacher and jazz vocalist, I also work as an LSA in a secondary school. Been vocal training professionally for 6 years and teaching since Jan 2010. I'm writing my own tunes too at the moment and I'm a Music degree student.

Q: Describe your Music in 5 words
I'm influenced by Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and the many other wonderful Neo Soul singers. I grew up to their music, so I would most love to write and compose these types of tunes. I love songwriting anyway and have done since I was young, so it feels like a natural progression for me.

Q: What are your Current projects that you are working on?
I'm at Goldsmiths uni studying music, so I'm working on analysing jazz tunes, composing and arranging and songwriting, so I'm pretty busy as it is! Singing is my passion, and I try to sing everyday. Like I mentioned before, I'd love to compose and perform my own tunes and gig with a ful band one day. My course is coming in handy.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
In 5 years time? My own place in somewhere like Brighton, where I can build my own studio, vocal studio and gigging regularly. I like the idea of a bohemian lifestyle, spiritual in a way, but definitely in music.

Q: Where do you get your inspiration from?
Jazz and soul mainly. I love listening to male soul vocalists like Barry White, Al Green, Stevie Wonder etc. I love Neo Soul, Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone. Of course I love Amy Winehouse and sometimes, I'll catch the BBC3 show of Black American pop and souls artists. I still listen to Cameo and Grace Jones! Hip Hop

Q: Who would you rather listen to UK or US Music?
I like both. I think there are wonderful artists at home and across the pond. I am a bit stuck in the past a little bit, because I hardly buy music, but I like a lot of tunes.

Q:What Artist do you listen to?
I listen to everything. In the mornings while getting ready for work, I'll put on some Jamiroquai, or some soul or whatever. It depends what mood I'm in. I love Dance music too.

Q:Who influences your music?
Jazz, soul and blues

Q: Please describe your fashion style in 5 words?
Sophistifunky - I made that up. I'm a little bit sophisticated, but very funky. I love strong, vibrant colours, but my favourite colour is blue, but I don't follow fashion. It changes all the time. There are pieces I like, but I don't follow trends that much. I do have a desire to dress like Dita Von Teese, I absolutely love the glamour of the 30's and 40's and I love Marilyn Monroe. I'm a slim woman, but I love images of volumptous women of those eras. Real women who celebrated curves and all that.

Q: How can people Contact you & Collaborate with you?
I'm on Facebook, I have a myspace - www.myspace.com/jazzrockarmaand I have a phone number too. I love collaborations, so the more the better.
